We are inviting applications for a postdoctoral researcher position in Software Engineering.

Tampere University Software Engineering (TASE) group is looking for a postdoctoral researcher to work mainly on data management for electric vehicle (EV) charging data. The project is funded by Business Finland. The focus of the project is to study the interconnections between the increasing numbers of electric vehicles, the decreased controllability of renewable energy resources, and the need for flexible electricity consumption. From a data management perspective, the candidate is expected to scientifically study electric vehicle charging data interoperability between different types of data sources, with the ultimate goal for implementing data-driven business around charging data. The research challenges are shared with our other research projects, so selected candidate can contribute in other projects, too. 

The position is located in the Faculty of Information Technology and Communication Sciences in the Unit of Computing Sciences. The work will be conducted on site, by default, as we encourage active participation to the local and vibrant research community. Partial remote work (e.g., 1–2 days a week) is possible, as separately negotiated.

 

Requirements

Candidates must hold an internationally recognized PhD degree in software engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field. Successful candidate must have the ability to pursue independent scholarly activity.  Good written and spoken English skills are also essential. Fluent command of Finnish language is considered an advantage but is not a requirement. Regardless of the candidate’s educational background, the following are considered an advantage:

  • Understanding of data architectures, data modeling and data interfaces
  • Knowledge on data sharing, data business and data spaces
  • Practical skills in software development
  • Understanding EV supply equipment architectures, power system operation, and smart grids
  • Understanding of the electric vehicle charging as a business domain

The candidate should also enjoy working in an international, collaborative research group, and enjoy working with colleagues (national and international).


We offer

The Postdoctoral position will be offered for one year and the latest possible starting date is 1.2.2026. A trial period of six months applies to all our new employees. The salary will be based on both the job requirements and the employee's personal performance in accordance with the Finnish University Salary System.The position of Postdoctoral Researcher is placed on the job demands level 5 (teaching and research staff). A typical starting salary of Postdoctoral Researcher is around 4000 EUR/month.
