Accountant, Accounts Payable

Wärtsilä Shared Service Center (WSSC) supports the Wärtsilä companies in financial accounting and other operational tasks and acts as a gatekeeper to ensure compliance. 

We are now looking for an energetic and customer-oriented Accountant to strengthen the Accounts Payable team who are all located in Vaasa, Finland. The position is offered on a temporary basis for 13-14 months. 

We are looking for a colleague to work with the South Europe, Asia, Africa & Americas area. Our office is in Runsor, Vaasa (Finland), where we are working flexibly a few days a week, with partial remote work opportunity. 

During your working day you would be handling incoming purchase invoices, sending them to invoice approvers and being in contact with various Wärtsilä teams and suppliers to either help with the issues they are facing or to improve the end-to-end process. You would also be making quality checks to ensure that all invoices are paid correctly and on time. 

The team is here to support you, and we are all continuous learners, regardless of our experience level. You will gain experience on the purchase-to-pay process and if interested, there will also be opportunities to learn about software robotics or dive deeper into the process related topics.

Responsibilities:

• Checking the quality and authenticity of incoming purchase invoices
• Handling of purchase invoices in the SAP system 
• Monitoring of the overall invoice flow and the accounts payable ledger
• Supporting purchase invoice approvers with invoice handling and answering incoming questions from our suppliers and internal customers
• Handling of month-end closing related tasks, such as accruals
• Other tasks related to monitoring and quality control 

As an ideal candidate you would have:

• B.Sc. or M.Sc. in a Commercial field: Accounting, Business Administration, Economics or similar
• Systematic and organized way of working 
• Self driven and development oriented attitude
• Good knowledge of English with other language skills considered as a benefit
• Positive attitude and proactive thinking
• Good communication skills and ability to work in a multicultural environment
• Flexibility and good team working skills 
• Excellent customer service skills and problem-solving capabilities
• The right to work in Finland
