VTT – beyond the obvious.

We are looking for researcher or research engineer to work in the micro- and nanofabrication environment with 2D materials integration and advanced lithography.

With us you will be responsible for

R&D of solid-state device fabrication for sensing and ICT, with focus on 2D material integration and advanced lithography. Your role would be process/research engineer with responsibility on tool and process development for 2D material processing on wafer scale, including nanolithography. The work utilizes Micronova clean room in Otaniemi, the largest micro- and nanofabrication facility in the Northern Europe. Our existing technology platforms range from custom CMOS to silicon photonics and superconductive electronics, and application fields from biosensing to quantum information.

You will interact and collaborate with different staff members of VTT and with VTT‘s collaborators and customers. Your work will be linked to international projects and initiatives, like for example the Graphene Flagship or Quantum Technologies Flagship, or other European level integrated actions.

We expect you to have

experience in micro- and nanofabrication related process and tool development, possibly also on tool maintenance for demanding processes. You should have a MSc or PhD degree in physics or engineering (or related field) and good understanding on surface chemistry. We expect you to have hands-on experience in cleanroom work, process integration or device characterization.
Experience in two of the following skills is expected, and all will be considered as valuable assets:
• Electron beam lithography
• Wafer bonding
• 2D material based devices
• Polymer chemistry

As a person you are

a team player with true ambition and passion for technology and research work. You take initiatives and responsibilities and have good interaction skills. You are able to combine theory with practise in a solution-oriented manner. You have good cooperation and networking skills and fluent written and oral communication in English.

We offer

a creative and international working environment with highly trained colleagues and state-of-the-art research infrastructures. At VTT you can also have flexible working hours, good personal development prospects and the benefits of a large employer. With us, you will be building bridges from basic and applied research to the commercial exploitation.
