Description
We are now looking for a
University Teacher for Epidemiology and Biomedical Data Science Degree Programme
to join us in the Research Unit of Population Health at the Faculty of Medicine.
The Epidemiology and Biomedical Data Science Degree Programme (EBDS) is an international Master’s Degree Programme taught in English at Kontinkangas campus using face-to-face and blended teaching methods.
About the job
The job will be performed on-site at Kontinkangas campus. The working language is English. The position can be 80%-100%, depending on the availability and qualification of the suitable candidate.
- You will be a responsible teacher for the courses “Introduction to academic studies” and “optional internship”.
- You will be responsible for sharing academic, curricular, and regulatory information to students, teachers, the programme leadership team, and academic affairs.
- You will coordinate and facilitate meetings, events, and trainings.
- You will assist the Programme Director in administrative duties according to the academic year clock.
- You will act as a tutor teacher and student tutor's contact person and supervisor.
Other teaching responsibilities within the EBDS curriculum or developmental duties will be agreed based on a candidate´s previous experience and interest.

Who are you?
In order to succeed and enjoy the position, we expect from you:
- A master’s degree in a suitable field
- Fluent written and spoken English
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Understanding of the Finnish higher education system
- Prior teaching experience
- Prior experience of University of Oulu IT systems, particularly the ones used in education
We also appreciate:
- Pedagogical training
- Experience in the management and development of education
- Experience of international degree programmes, especially EBDS
Salary
The position is fixed-term (substitute position). The exact starting date can be negotiated between 1.5.-1.6.2026, with an end date 31.3.2027.
The salary will be based on the levels of 4-5 of the demand level chart for teaching and research staff of Finnish universities. In addition, a salary component based on personal work performance will be paid (maximum of 50 % of the job-specific component). Starting gross salary will be approx. 3100-3650 € per month (before taxes). A trial period of 6 months is applied to the position.
